Do you have (family) visits on the agenda from friends and family? Do not stress because your guest room is not in good shape and certainly do not start house cleaning like crazy. Your guests mainly pay attention to a few details. That’s how you put them in order.
1. Everything starts with the entrance
A first impression is everything, including your home. A nicely decorated and neat corridor is half the work. So make sure everything is clean, that all shoes are neatly stowed away and above all: that there is enough space to keep their stuffs and luggage.
Does your house have a small, narrow corridor? Then hang a large, long mirror on the wall and your entrance immediately looks much bigger.
2. Remove pet hair
A seat full of cat or dog hair can really not, and certainly not if you want to leave your guests there! You, of course, love your pet, but not everyone has understood this in your hairy housemates. Check everything carefully and vacuum cleaner, before you receive those critical guests.
3. Check whether you have enough space and only adjust
An invitation is handed out quickly, but after some thought, you come to the conclusion that you actually do not have enough space to give everyone a place. Then you will have to reorganize a little in advance! For example, place your dining table temporarily in the living room (or make your table bigger by placing smaller tables). Remove seats, small cupboards on the side … does not matter but make sure everyone has a place.
4. Extra storage space
Does the whole family visit? Then realize that you also have to store all the drinks and food or snacks somewhere temporarily. Possibly you make some extra space beforehand, but it is certainly something to think about after the thinking.
5. The toilet
Of course, your toilet needs to be completely clean, but have you also thought of enough rolls of toilet paper, a fresh piece of soap to wash your hands and clean towels? Do not forget a nice smelling refreshing spray, always used to cover up embarrassing odors.
6. Get a little green at home
Instead of scrubbing hidden corners and edges in your house – which no one sees – you better get some extra plants and flowers at home. They literally brighten up space and provide an instant good feeling. And it looks stylishly natural.
7. Clearly (or pretend)
It is the curse of every household: rubbish that suddenly seems to swing around and seems to be mysteriously multiplying. Just think of magazines, books, dirty glasses, post or mail envelopes, small papers of all kinds … Cleaning is the message, and if you do not have a lot of time, you just pretend. First go around and take away everything that needs to be thrown away, such as paper leftovers and empty envelopes.
